Pavones is located at the mouth of the Gulfo Dulce in the Southern Pacific zone of Costa Rica. Pavones is known as a surf mecca throughout the world with its famously long left-hand wave. A little less known secret is that Pavones is also a pristine wildlife habitat. Birdwatchers will be treated with some of the most beautiful sights, like Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, Aracaris, and many more. There is also a yearly sea turtle migration starting around July and lasting till around September in Pavones and in the neighboring town of Punta Banco. While out on the water, be sure to put your head under the water to listen for the serenading songs of the Humpback whales that come to raise their young in the warm, shallow Gulf. Let’s not forget the sloths and monkeys are everywhere!

The weather in Pavones is slightly cool considering it’s almost on the equator. The coolness comes from the sea breeze, mountain breeze and extreme cloud coverage during the rainy season, which lasts about 8 months of the year, from April till November. It peaks in October & November, raining for days at a time. The real estate in Pavones can range from extremely affordable to millions of dollars We at Keller Williams Costa Rica will be more than glad to help you find your ideal home in Pavones, Punta Banco, Cuervito, Zancudo or any of the surrounding South Pacific towns in Costa Rica.
